  • Species-specific livestock selection criteria to ensure the student produces a quality product for the end consumer.  


  • Fundamental feed and nutrition needs for livestock production and exhibition. 


  • Desired industry standard weight and condition of livestock.

  • Understanding of how to read and FDA labeled drug labels and their importance to the safety of the human food chain.

How Does It Work?

A current Show Smart subscription is required.

  • Students Complete Show Smart Course Curriculum

    Teachers enroll students in the Show Smart course through a current Show Smart subscription. The school must have a current subscription to request certificate exams.

  • Students successfully complete and pass the final exam.

    Students will be given two opportunities to pass the final exam.

  • Certificate Exam Pricing

    The exam fee is $15 per student, per species. A student may take more than one species certificate exam.
